So - on a typical morning, I wake up between 6-7am after 7-9hrs of sleep.
I do some chores, walk the dog, unload the dishwasher, etc. Then I typically hop on the computer by 8am and am typically on for awhile doing a myriad of things and keeping an eye on the Coalition as a good moderator ought to.
Some mornings I bring my schoolwork (if I can) in front of the desktop and sit there and do it whilst logged in here.
At any rate, this morning was different.
I was asleep - immersed in a VERY nice dream if I may say, though I'll leave all y'all to guess what about.
Then all of a sudden there was a BANG! and I woke up. Now - I am a person who is EXTREMELY hard to awaken. I sleep very deeply. However, I'm always very quick to become 'awake' if you know what I mean. IE - people can be 'awake' but not 'up.' When I am 'awake' I am 'up' almost instantly. Guess it's just youthful bounding energy, but maybe not as none of the other kids in my family are like that (they wake up and then take 20-30 minutes before they start functioning - I take 15 seconds).
So I snapped awake, thinking something had fallen and shattered in my room. However, I couldn't figure out what it could be. I glanced around my room, checking to make sure all of my speakers (I have 4 speakers and a subwoofer that I cobbled together in my room. Yes, it's awesome) were still in their spots, because that was the only thing I could think of that could have fallen.
As my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw that there was some white stuff on my computer chair. Then I saw my black leather jacket on the back of the computer chair...and it looked as if it were covered in snow. Immediately I hopped up and grabbed my coat and brought it into the bathroom in the hall and flipped on the light. I didn't flip on the light in my bedroom because my 4yold brother was still asleep. Oh, by the way, the time was 5:53am.
So I brought the coat into the bathroom, thinking I was going to have to have it dry-cleaned. I was naturally pissed off. I started inspecting the white stuff, and then realized what it was. Before I went to assess the damage in my room, as I had noticed in peripheral vision that there was more stuff around, I took a bunch of paper towels, got them slightly damp, and succeeded in cleaning/rescuing the coat, at which I was definitely relieved.
My mother and one of the twins was awake, by the way, and she was wondering what had happened. I told her what had gone down.
Then my 4yold brother woke up and came out - some of the white stuff was on his shoulder. No, he did not have a massive attack of dandruff.
I went into my room to get him another t-shirt to wear and to assess the damage.
Earlier this summer at my summer job with Hawbridge Charter High in Saxapahaw I had the opportunity to acquire two desktop computers that they were getting rid of. Neither are very good and neither compare to this desktop I'm using - but they had 1ghz processors and 20gb harddrives and fairly decent monitors and they both ran Win2000. If any of you remember my laptop, you'll realize that's about 3-4times as good as my laptop. I use my laptop more, but these desktops also had some programs on them I did not have on my laptop. So I put one in my closet as a spare and had the other set up on a TV stand next to my bed.
At any rate - there was white stuff all over and inside the monitor, thus trashing the monitor. White stuff was all over my bedroom door, all over the wall by the computer, all over my laptop bag, all over my computer chair, on my stationary bike, on miscellaneous pieces of clothing, etc.
Figure out what it was yet? I'll inform y'all in a second, I'm enjoying this. Sort of.
I started cleaning everything up (took me an hour). The monitor was trashed, basically. Then I discovered the white stuff was all over the INSIDE of the computer tower, so I just trashed that also. There are not really any files on there I don't have backed up on my laptop or my jumpdrive.
I took out the spare computer and monitor from my closet and set them up and tested them out - they're fine.
I came out to the living room, hopped on the computer to post here about this.
Started typing - was roughly 1/3 of the way through - and the power blinked off for a few seconds. Lost what I had typed thus far.
At any rate, I've mostly finished now.
What happened was this - my old can of shaving cream was sitting on the TV stand next to the monitor. I'm not sure how exactly - and before anyone suggests heat from the computer, it was not plugged in and the power strip was flipped off - the can of shaving cream literally EXPLODED. Shaving cream was all over my room (it would have been much worse if the monitor hadn't taken the brunt of it though).
I cleaned up and rescued everything aside from the computer. Amazing.
The can was found all the way on the other side of my room under the window (which was closed). The can was broken, exploded. Thankfully it didn't land on and cut my brother.
So at any rate - that was my insane happening of today.
