Good!!!!!! Take a year to heal and think. Take care of yourself and your family. Football is just a game, afterall. However, please do grab a clipboard, Coach Bruschi!!!

Here's what I wrote over on Patsfans.com in response to all the posters there who are selfishly "saddened" about Tedy not playing this year. ______________________
For all of you who are very sad at this news, lemme tell ya, I am RELIEVED at this news. This is a player who lowers his head on most every hit. Every play from scrimmage this year would've been a "deathwatch".
I was cringing at the thought of him playing this year. The guy had a stroke. Let get a year plus under his belt with no recurrences before anymore talk of playing.
It's time for him to take care of himself and be there for Heidi and those wonderful boys.
My only selfish hope is that he stay in NE and be around the team in some active capacity.

I think it would've been nice to see him play. But I really could careless if he could play or not, because his health and family matter to me the most. I'd rather see him playing with his children on the field than him actually playing football. I want him to be healthy and I'm glad to see that he has made his decision and even after this upcomming season and he's still not sure if he should play or not. Then I'll still respect him and support him 110% and more because I want him to be a fully healthy player even if that means he won't be on the field.

While I will miss him DESPERATELY... his health and family are the most important thing here. I can honestly say that I'm relieved that he made the decision that was best for his health at this point. (Not that I doubted he would do what was best for him in any way...) I know that I would have been a wreck watching him.... By him making the decision now (rather than the 6-9wk PUP window, it takes the focus off him and the anticipation of it all, now he can just deal with getting better and doing what he needs to do.
My only hope and prayer is that he's at peace with his decision...

Of course we will miss seeing Tedy on the playing field this season - he is the heart and soul of the entire team - but I think we all heaved a collective sigh of relief when the announcement was made. His decision to sit out 2005 is the right one. I for one would have had my heart in my throat every time he stepped on to the field.
It's not as if we won't be seeing him. He is the quintessential Patriot and I predict he will be very visible with the team, whether in an official coaching job or being there to mentor and lend support, because that's what Tedy is all about - being a team player!
We love you, Tedy, and will always support you! Thank you for taking good care of yourself and your family!

well hes SITTING OUT this season does this give a 2006 return a chance? just an optimist throwing it out there that has been my thought too, seeing him in '06 as opposed to him taking a coaching job or dropping out altogether, so everybody cross your fingers (and eyes, arms, legs, toes...)

I knew this was coming & in my heart felt he would not be returning but it does make me a little sad....what mostly makes me sad is that the whole thing happened to begin with and this is even an issue; Tedy is the best , I will miss him!!! but I feel the same as everyone else that he has his health and family to think about: these are the most important things in life.

It's a bittersweet feeling for me. I want nothing but the best for Tedy and his family and I'm glad he decided to sit it out. I know he'll be helping the team on the sidelines and in the locker room and thats just fine with me. We'll miss you on the field Tedy! Much love. -NE05- -I don't know about anybody else, but I'm still going to be sporting my number 54 jersey on game days. GO PATS!
