I watched the opening ceremonies last nite and will probably watch some of the events. I like the summer olympics better than the winter ones ( my daughters are swimmers and my husband a swim coach so it is kind of our thing...plus Michael Phelps is sooo cute...ok, ok I know I am old enough to be his mother but he is adorable !!...and um, ok sorry I am rambling totally off topic stuff here! ) so yes...I watched and will be watching. Will mostly watch the figure skating, skiing and snowboarding events when I can. and it is so pretty there in Italy. did you watch last nite NIOH???

I didn't watch the opening ceremonies because we went out to dinner but I'll watch as much of the competition as possible since I love the Olympics (winter and summer). It will be one of those things that will be on in the background as I do other things. Watching the Olympics was one of those highlights of my TV viewing pleasure growing up... Those of you who are 29 like me remember the pre-cable days when we looked forward to events like the Olympics (and the annual Wizard of Oz movie) because they were a big deal and you could only watch them when they came on.

I liked when they played "Imagine" and all the athletes from the different countries were moving together. I think i will follow at least some of it. (And i know we haven't seen phelps in 2 or so years, but does anyone else think he looks a tad like mike vrabel?)

A favor please... I don't think it will happen but just in case...
Because of the time change, the events are happening prior to the 6:00 newscasts and the prime time viewing here. So, on the news they post the results but tell the viewers to turn away if they don't want to know. (I DON'T want to know!!)
So, here is my request. PLEASE do NOT mention the results or discuss the event until it has been shown on TV so as not to blow it for the people who want to actually watch it "live".
THANKS!!

I did not watch the Opening Cermonies. I was in New Jersey at a show of my favorite band and catching up with some old friends.
I watch some of the Olympics. The coverage just seems so scattered and haphazard to me. When I was a kid it seemed the entire event was on so you could watch it all. Maybe it really wasn't that way.

NIOH...my daughters and I just saw Michael Phelps last Saturday at the FINA world cup swim championships in NY. He is so amazing to watch; it seems that everything is so effortless for him. and he really is so adorable...and there were all these screaming 10/11/12 yr old girls there with signs saying "i love you Michael" & "will you marry me Michael?"; it is like he is a rock star. too cute. I never noticed him looking a little like Vrabel... will have to check this out. won't be hard since my daughter's room is a PATS/Phelps shrine!!!
