Ok..I am 15 years old and am 5' 3". I started out on Jan 1st 2006 weighing 135 1/2. I started exercising 1 hour a day, six days a week. One Feb 1st I was 128 1/2. Two weeks into Feb I went down to 126 1/2 but when I weighed in on March 1st I was 129! *bangs head* I'm not doing much about my food; just focusing on exercising right now. I don't expect to lose a lot when not dieting but how could I gian half a pound in a whole month?! Espically after losing 7 1/2 pounds in Jan?
Also I've only losed about 1/2 an inch on my stomach in two months!
Can anyone recomend a diet that's good for teenagers? I did Michael Thurmonds Six Week Body Makeover a year ago, but it's for 18 year olds and up.
I'm tired of dieting and exercising and need something to motivate me. My goal weight is 117 lbs.
Thanks in advance.

Bethany!!! you are doing great!! don't get discouraged. Have you spoken to your doctor about an eating plan that would be healthy and help you lose weight at your age? That is probably where I would start. Exercise is the key; everything else will fall into place. You do not want to starve yourself or skip meals to lose weight; b/c that is not healthy at all. I say : keep up the good work! you are doing a great job!!! I know it can be discouraging when you work so hard and end up gaining or lose only a little; but don't focus so much on what the scale says but more on how you feel and how your clothes fit. A biggie for me is not drinking soda and drinking lots of water. good luck! you are doing great!!!

I really do need to work on remembering to drink more water. What's wierd is that when the scale was going down I wasn't losing any inches. Thanks for the encouragement.

as a teenage boy who had to constanly have to lose weight to make football weighins... the more exercising you do the more in shape you get so you put on muscle... you should start to look better but you won't lose much weight maybe even be gaining weight off of muscle. I'd suggest just eating a salad when ever possible.. also popsicles are good because its just flavored ice. I had to lose 20 pounds each summer for about 4 years and I just had a lot of salad and popsicles, kinda tough during the summer down the cape when everyone is having ice cream. I hope this helps and keep it up.

I don't mind gaining muscle, as long as I lose the inches..but eating salad..*sigh* I love salad in the States but the salad that's grow here in Africa is pittiful. It's bitter and I almost never eat it. Popsicles.. kind of like drinking a lot of water. Thanks for the advice.

Hi ya'll.. I just dropped in to find an old post and saw this thread and thought I'd give ya'll an update. I'm happy to say this this morningI weighed 115.6 pounds!!! I haven't really done a lot of exercising to lose the wieght. I found out that my body loses weight better when I focus more on eating right then on exercising. (In Congo that was really hard to do, becuase we didn't have a very large selection of fruits a vegtables to buy, so eating right was harder to do the exercise!)
I do enjoy (to much) junk food, but have been trying to keep an eye on what I've been eating and it's so been worth it! This Tuesday my family and I are flying out to Parris Island for my brother Joshua's graduation from boot camp. I was 10 pounds heavier the last time I saw him and 5 pounds heavier from when I last saw my sister (her wedding). They are both very proud of me and I can't wait to see them.

Tell her I said congrats when you talk to her!! And also tell your brother congrats for completing boot camp! I remember a couple years ago when you were telling us how much he wanted to be a Marine...that's awesome that he's living out his goal!
